"She Wolf" is primarily an electropop album by Shakira that integrates influences from various global musical styles, including African, Colombian, Indian, and Middle Eastern sounds. Shakira described the album as a "sonic experimental trip" where she blended electronics with world sounds such as tambourines, clarinets, Indian classical music, and dancehall.
The title track exemplifies the album's electronic production with 70s disco guitars and robot effects. "Did It Again" is a midtempo electropop song with samba elements. "Why Wait" is a synth-based electro-funk track with Middle Eastern strings, while "Gypsy" is the album's closest to an acoustic song, featuring mandolin, banjo, sitar, and tabla. "Long Time" and "Good Stuff" incorporate dancehall, electronica, and Latin elements. The track "Men in This Town," an 80s-styled dance-pop and electropop song, was highlighted by critics and compared to the work of American band No Doubt.
"She Wolf" includes the bouncy disco and R&B track "Spy," a collaboration with Wyclef Jean, noted for its sultry and playful vibe. Rock elements appear on the album, particularly in the "noisy" stadium rock song "Mon Amour." The US bonus track "Give It Up to Me" blends pop and hip hop, featuring a playful rap by Lil Wayne. Shakira aimed for powerful kicks, making the tracks very bass-driven. She described the creation process as starting with a blank canvas, although she intended to produce an electronica-influenced album from the beginning.
