Pies Descalzos

"Pies Descalzos" is Shakira's third studio album, released on October 6, 1995, by Sony Music Colombia. It blends Latin pop with pop rock elements and was pivotal in reviving Shakira's career after her first two albums, "Magia" and "Peligro," failed commercially. Shakira co-wrote and co-produced all eleven tracks with executive producer Luis Fernando Ochoa.
The album received positive reviews and marked Shakira's breakthrough in Latin America. It sold one million copies in Colombia, earning a "Diamond Prism" award, and reached numbers three and five on the US Billboard Latin Pop Albums and Latin Albums charts, respectively. It was also certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), solidifying Shakira's prominence in the music industry.

Commercially, "Pies Descalzos" became the album that launched Shakira to stardom, establishing her as a notable figure throughout Latin America. In Argentina, it achieved double platinum certification with over 120,000 copies sold. In Colombia, her home country, the album was awarded the "Diamond Prism" for sales of one million units. It also received platinum certifications in Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Central America.
Elsewhere, the album reached number 71 on the German Albums Chart. In the United States, it did not enter the Billboard 200, but it reached number 34 on the Billboard Hot Heatseekers Albums chart and peaked at numbers 3 and 5 on the Latin Pop Albums and Latin Albums charts, respectively. Later, it was certified platinum by the RIAA for shipments of one million copies. By 2008, "Pies Descalzos" had sold over five million copies. As of October 2017, it had sold 580,000 copies in the US, making it the 23rd bestselling Latin album in the country according to Nielsen SoundScan. In Latin America, the album sold over 2 million copies.
