Estoy Aquí

"Estoy Aquí" is a song by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira from her third studio album, 'Pies Descalzos' (1995). It was released in 1995 by Sony Music and Columbia Records as the album's lead single. Shakira and Luis Fernando Ochoa wrote and produced the song. "Estoy Aquí" is a Latin house track that lyrically expresses a desire to mend a broken relationship.

Upon its release, "Estoy Aquí" received generally positive reviews from music critics, who identified it as a standout track from 'Pies Descalzos'. The song also marked Shakira's first commercial success outside of Colombia.

"Estoy Aquí" became the first track by Shakira to receive an accompanying music video, directed by Simon Brand. The video is set in a barn that changes with the seasons and shows Shakira performing the song, often with a guitar. The clip received a favorable response from her label, Sony Music, and achieved commercial success. Consequently, executives decided to place additional emphasis on promoting *Pies Descalzos* if it exceeded sales of 50,000 copies. John Lannert from *Billboard* noted positively that her voice and appearance "jumps out at you." In Colombia, it was recognized as the "Best Video" at the Asociación Colombiana de Periodistas del Espectáculo (ACPE) Awards.

After the immense success of the single in Latin America and Spain, Shakira filmed an alternate music video for the song, directed by French photographer and filmmaker Christophe Gstalder. This version, marketed as "Estoy Aquí (European Mix)," was used to promote the song in European countries. The alternate video features Shakira playing the guitar and dancing, posing seductively behind an aquarium, and setting her guitar on fire. Although an English version of this video, titled "I Am Here," was created, it was never officially released. However, the clip appeared on a French television interview show, *Star Story*.
